Chimney Liners

Why chimney liners are important…

Flue lining is a ceramic, or metal tube installed inside of a chimney, intended to contain combustion products, keeping them from entering the household interior, and protect the chimney walls from heat corrosion. Chimney liners mainly come in two types; clay tiles or metal, including stainless steel.

Chimneys without liners, or an old, worn-out liner can cause serious damage. Unlined chimneys are extremely dangerous, the liners protect the house from heat transfer, which may cause a fire. Liners also protect the masonry from the corrosive byproducts of combustion.

Flue gases are acidic in nature and will eat away at the mortar joints from inside the chimney. This allows heat to travel rapidly to surrounding areas and dangerous gases such as carbon monoxide can leak into the areas of the home.

Proper installation of a flue liner, will protect your home inside and out!
