This is the process of sealing joints or seams in various structures and some types of piping. The material, caulk, may also be referred to as a sealant.
Choose the right caulk. Caulk that keeps air and water out over time is a necessity when sealing around the home. For long lasting seal, we choose permanentaly waterproof, flexible, shrink/crack proof one-part urethane sealant. This is important to us, because if air and water seep through gaps left by cracked caulk it can eventually lead to water damage, and mold growth.
Cleaning the surface. Removing old caulk, dirt, and loose particles with a caulk removing tool followed with a precise wipe, using a cloth and caulk primer to ensure the space is clean. Masking tape can then be applied to either side of the joint to create a straight edge (removed immediately after caulk application).
Preparing the tube and sealing. The nozzle will be cut to desired bead size. Using a caulking gun, we insert the cartridge. With an even and consistent pressure we control the rate at which the caulk leaves the tube and apply a smooth seal to spaces inside and outside of the home.
Smooth the caulk and seal. Using a wet caulk smoothing tool, within the two to five minuet mark of application. We use the tool to create a smooth and clean look of the caulk.
